Editor’s Notes
First…to all of you who have been
desperately waiting to read your latest issue of the Montana
Retreads Times, my apologies for not staying on the semi monthly
schedule. I will offer no excuses other than to say if I had any
contributions, I would be more anxious to labor over a timely
newsletter.
Second…this summer has been very
busy for all of us and it has been difficult to keep up with all the
rides, breakfasts, and fund raisers that have been occurring. There
are even rides amongst members that don’t get reported. And, if I
forget to take my camera, we don’t get proper coverage of the
events.
So…I will endeavor to keep doing
the Montana Retreads Times on some sort of a predictable schedule
but could sure use some input on rides, activities and news from the
membership. Anyone with a computer or typewriter is encouraged to
submit. Remember…it’s your club, so let us know information that
might help the rest of us.
Reader Poll
Consistent with
the apology above, we’ve decided to ask you a few questions that
might help us determine the future of the newsletter.

Technical Tips
Usually in this column we try to cover some important piece of
information on either mechanical issues or tips from fellow riders
that can save money or scraped knuckles.
As we approach winter, we have only the regular tips to share…get a
battery maintainer for your bike.(J.C. Whitney has a great one for
29 bucks), change your oil & filter and put Stabil in your gas tank
with a fresh fill up. Make sure that the tires get checked for
proper air pressure during the course of the winter (the cold causes
air temperature loss). When spring arrives, you’re ready to go.
Bill’s
Corner
We had a great riding season this
year and, as usual, got in lots of unscheduled “pick up rides”. Dave
and I did a 7 day trip to Canmore, Banff, and Lake Louise, Canada in
June, followed by a 3 day tour around and through Stanley and
Grangeville, ID and back home on Rt. 12. Joe and Iva got over to the
coast of Oregon, too.
The attendance at the rides was
tremendous and our participation rate was way up this year.
Let’s make next year another great
year for riding. We learned some things this year that we’ll
incorporate into next year’s planning. In the meantime, we’ll see
you all at the winter breakfasts and for goodness sake, if the
weather permits, call someone and go riding.
Remember: This is your riding club.
It’s set up for your safety and enjoyment. It’s here for YOU.
Suggestions and criticisms are always welcome so that we can
constantly improve it. Let’s stay in touch.

Rick’s wife thought he ought to have some company on his ride to the
picnic.
A stunning date, Rick.

Another hardy group visits Shoup, ID and we were in time for
huckleberry shakes. |
